2021 chapbook competition now open!
Our 2021 chapbook competition is now open. This year we are accepting poetry submissions. Manuscripts should be 28-36 pages in length, and beyond that, what you send us is entirely up to you. Our winner will receive a $1,000 honorarium along with 15 copies of their chapbook. Our submissions run from Jan 15th to Mar 15th, with a free submit day available on Mar 1st.
We've made a few changes to our competition this year. COVID-19 has hit everyone hard, and IHLR is no exception. Due to budget cuts, we won't be bringing in an outside judge this year. Our editors will carefully read through every submission and choose a batch of finalists before finally selecting a winner. We have been so fortunate in the past, with the ability to bring in phenomenal guest judges each year, and we hope to resume that practice very soon.
If you would like to submit your manuscript, please visit out chapbook page here for more information. You can also see a list of our past winners, and if you'd like, order a copy of any chapbook here. We alternate between poetry and prose with our chapbook competition, so fiction and nonfiction writers, we look forward to seeing your work next year.
Good luck! We hope to read your poetry soon!
